Pittville Park
Cheltenham

Pittville Park, a 20-30 minute walk from the centre of Cheltenham, is the town’s largest ornamental park and features the Pump Room and lakes. 

Split in two by the Evesham Road, on the eastern side you will find the Pump Room, a small lake, the main children’s play area and the aviaries that are home to the park’s popular birds and bunnies.

On the western side you will find a much larger lake where you can fish during the fishing season, as well as a smaller children’s play area, small woodland areas, tennis courts, a pitch and putt golf course and a skate park.

Rowing boats are available to hire from The Boathouse on the shore of the larger lake on the western side. Please note that at the moment pitch and putt golf and the boats are not currently available.

The park borders Tommy Taylor’s Lane to the west and Pittville Lawn to the east, and the narrow southern section of the park stretches as far south as Wellington Road. There are a number of bus stops around the outside of the park.

There are clear wide paths to walk, run and cycle around both lakes and around the rest of the park.

The park is accessible via several entrances and stretches on both sides.

Eastern side:

Pitville Pump Room: there is plenty of space to access the park directly from the Pump Room, all level access. Accessible parking is available at the Pump Room.

Evesham Road (play area): gated level access from the pavement to the main children’s play area.

Evesham Road (onto path and bridge): gated level access from the pavement by a lay-by.

Evesham Road/Central Cross Drive/Pittville Lawn: level access from the pavement onto the park for the whole southern section.

Western side:

Evesham Road: gated access from the pavement, and a short steep slope down into the park.

Hanover Street: at the end of Hanover Street there is level access and a narrow space to get a wheelchair or bike through at an angle.

Tommy Taylor’s Lane: level access directly onto a path into the park from the pavement (by Leisure At Cheltenham) and level access up the rest of Tommy Taylor’s Lane (there is no pavement but the path runs parallel to the road).

There is another smaller green space the other side of Tommy Taylor’s Lane.

From Tommy Taylor’s Lane you can also get onto the Honeybourne Line by walking down the road a short distance and turning in right just after the Prince of Wales Stadium.

Standard toilets and a Changing Places Facility can be found near the Evesham Road entrance on the eastern side of the park (turn left at the entrance), adjacent to The Kiosk.
