Since 1994 FVAF has been the support & development agency for voluntary activity and community action in the Forest of Dean (FoD). Their community-led approach enables citizens to develop the skills, resiliency & social capital to live more connected and equitable lives, resulting in greater empowerment both individually and collectively in meeting health, well-being, and social needs. FVAF aids 807 voluntary and community groups in the District offering advice, guidance, training and reciprocal signposting. They help to recruit over 1,000 volunteers each year to a variety of roles, including befriending, volunteer driving & gardening. FVAF also facilitates a wide array of networking opportunities, forums, and projects with and for the benefit of local communities, including the FoD Youth Association, Going the Extra Mile (GEM), Foresters’ Forest, Walking with Wheels, Carers’ Projects and a Community Café.
