Gloucestershire Academy of Music (GAM) is a registered charity which offers an exceptional level of professional music tuition in an informal and friendly atmosphere.

For over 40 years we have been creating musical opportunities for all ages and abilities, from individual music lessons and group sessions to performances, courses, workshops and masterclasses.

Reaching over 2,000 participants each year, we encourage members of the community, from the very old to the very young, to love music and through it, to develop and thrive. GAM is a key strategic partner in Make Music Gloucestershire, the county’s music hub.

Inclusion statement

We welcome participants from all backgrounds and of all abilities. If you need particular support to access an activity, we ask you to let us know so that we can make things easier for you.

We want all of our students to enjoy our sessions and to thrive and develop.  Some of our students have learning needs and we are experienced in adapting our approach to suit everyone.

Most of our rooms are downstairs and are fully accessible.  We have disabled access currently at the rear of the building and can also arrange a ramp at the front.  We are currently fundraising to make this arrangement better and to create a fully accessible main entrance at the front of the building so that we can welcome everybody in style.

We don’t want your financial circumstances to prevent you from making music with us.  As a registered charity, we raise funds for our bursary scheme to pay for all or part of the cost of taking part.  We encourage you to consider this if you need help with the costs of GAM fees. We can also help you to access a bursary from Make Music Gloucestershire.
