Insight Gloucestershire Sight Loss Advice Hubs
Our monthly Community Hubs are welcoming spaces offering support, advice, and practical guidance for anyone living with sight loss. Family members, carers and friends are also encouraged to attend.
At each hub, a knowledgeable Sight Loss Advisor is on hand to help you explore ways to manage the challenges that sight loss can bring. You’ll also be able to see and try out a range of equipment designed to support daily living and independence.
Your Advisor can:
- Talk through your eye condition and explain the sight loss registration and certification process
- Offer tips on managing everyday tasks at home
- Help you continue enjoying reading
- Provide advice on getting out and about safely
- Support you in using smartphones, tablets, and other gadgets
- Demonstrate electronic magnifiers and other assistive equipment
- Let you know about local and online opportunities to socialise
- Provide guidance on finances and employment
- Tell you about our other services including our magazine, e-newsletter, and upcoming events
- Signpost you to other organisations and support networks
Many of our hubs also host a friendly, volunteer-led social group alongside the advice sessions. These groups offer a relaxed space where people living with sight loss can meet others, share experiences, and enjoy a chat over a cup of tea. You’re very welcome to drop in, whether you’re looking for advice, connection, or both.
